Insbesondere diese Entwicklung erfordert die Funktionstchtigkeit der Systeme und Instrumente, die der Steuerung und Begrenzung von Risiken dienen. Die wohl wesentlichste Risikoart der Kreditinstitute ist unzweifelhaft das Kreditrisiko. Kreditausflle und Kreditrisiken sind nach wie vor eine der hufigsten Ursachen von Instabilitten bei Kreditinstituten sowie dem Finanzsystem. Der Fokus dieser Arbeit liegt auf den Stresstests in der Kreditrisikosteuerung, denen aufgrund bankaufsichtlicher Anforderungen im Rahmen der Solvabilittsverordnung und der Mindestanforderungen an das Risikomanagement eine elementare Bedeutung zukommt. Vor allem die verheerenden Auswirkungen der Finanzkrise, die zahlreiche schlagend gewordene Kreditrisiken verursachte, tragen mageblich zu der Signifikanz dieser Risikokategorie bei. Erst dadurch wurde offenkundig, dass insbesondere die bisher gngigen Kreditrisikomodelle, die grtenteils auf Annahmen basieren, unter solch extremen Marktbedingungen versagen. Die aktuelle Krise der Finanzwelt ist die Triebfeder dafr, dass bislang gngige Risikosteuerungsmethoden in den Blickpunkt der Bankenaufsicht geraten sind. Die klassischen Risikosteuerungsmodelle entpuppten sich bei Extrementwicklungen als nicht mehr geeignet. Es wurden Methoden gesucht, die explizit solch unerwartete und vehemente Vernderungen im wirtschaftlichen Umfeld abbilden knnen, um die daraus resultierenden negativen Effekte vermeiden zu knnen. Das hierfr geeignete Instrument ist das Stresstesting. Bereits in der vorigen Fassung der MaRisk konnten Stresstests im Rahmen des Risikomanagements als Bestandteil erwhnt werden, sie wurden jedoch in der Neufassung enorm przisiert.
