Auch diese Darstellung soIl wie das bereits erschienene Thema mit dem Titel "Storungen des Koh lenhydratStoffwechsels" (UTB 616) den Medizinstudenten, Arzt und Biologen in die Probleme krankhafter Stoffwechselvorgange einfUhren. Es ist keine leichte Aufgabe, aus dem umfangreichen und sich standig vermehrenden Stoff eine zweckma~ige Auswahl zu treffen, aber ich hoffe, da~ mir dies im Sinne einer Einfiihrung in die dar gestellten Gebiete einigerma~en gelungen ist. In jedem Abschnitt wird auf Grund des normalen Stoffwechselgeschehens zu den krankhaften Vorgangen mit ihren charakteristischen Merkmalen iibergeleitet. Die Ubersichtlichkeit des Stoffes wurde durch besondere Glie derung und entsprechenden Druck, ferner durch tabellarische Zusammenfassungen und instruktive Abbildungen erhoht. Am Schlu~ des Textteiles findet sich eine Fragensammlung iiber das besprochene Gebiet, die zur Uberpriifung der gewonnenen Kennt nisse und auch fiir die Lernarbeit geeignet ist. Die Fragen sind den Lernzielen des Gegenstandskataloges fUr die Arztliche Priifung den einzelnen Disziplinen fUr physiologische Chemie, pathologische Physiologie und Innere Medizin angepa~t. Auch fUr Angehorige medizinischer Assistenzberufe ist diese Darstellung von Interesse, weil aus den krankhaften Ergebnissen auf die Art der Stoffwechsel storungen geschlossen werden kann.
