Fr die Auseinandersetzung damit ist es notwendig, zunchst den Autor kurz vorzustellen und das fr die Beschftigung mit dem Werk Wichtige aus seiner Biografie hervorzuheben, auerdem Grundstzliches zur Form des Werks zu erlutern, das Genre Dokumentartheater also ebenfalls kurz vorzustellen. Erst danach beginnt die Beschftigung mit dem Werk selbst. Dabei wird zunchst die Thematik dargestellt und historisch eingeordnet. Im Anschluss daran wird dann auf die Entstehungsgeschichte des Werks eingegangen, indem die Suche des Autors nach Inhalt und Form betrachtet wird. Als nchstes wird das Essay des Autors, Meine Ortschaft' im Zusammenhang mit der Ermittlung' und danach Die Ermittlung' selbst formal und inhaltlich mglichst umfassend analysiert. Anschlieend werden sowohl positive als auch negative zeitgenssische Reaktionen auf das Werk gezeigt. Auerdem wird die Mglichkeit des Einsatzes des Werks im Deutschunterricht untersucht, wobei es das Fr und Wider abzuwgen gilt. Schlielich wird eine zusammenfassende Einschtzung ber den Wert des Werks zum Erscheinungszeitpunkt sowie in der heutigen Gegenwart gegeben.
