Das Fremde hat immer die Neugierde in uns geweckt. Daher passen die beiden Beweggrnde gut zu einander. Neugierig sein auf einen heiligen Ort in der Fremde; einen heiligen Ort als das Ziel einer jeder Pilgerreise. Heilige Orte gibt es viele. Oft sind es Santiago, Jerusalem oder Rom. Es kann aber auch eine Wallfahrtskirche oder ein Tempel sein. Bei den Germanen waren Haine oder besondere Bume heilige Orte. Ein Pilgerwort sagt: "Es gibt immer einen Grund fr eine Pilgerreise. Der Pilger oder die Pilgerin muss den Anlass zum Beginn der Reise nicht kennen.
