In dieser Zeit entstanden unter seinen Hnden zahlreiche Filme verschiedenster Art; so reichten seine Werke von Western bis Komdien, von Politthrillern bis hin zu Liebesgeschichten. ber alle Genre hinweg bewies Pollack dabei das Talent die Menschen zu begeistern und vereinte so Gesellschaftskritik mit Unterhaltung. Trotz Unkonventionalitt und Direktheit waren Sydney Pollacks Filme nicht nur bei Preisverleihungen und Kritikern sondern auch an den Kinokassen erfolgreich. Vor drei Monaten wurde ein endgltiger Schlussstrich unter die Karriere dieses beeindruckenden Mannes gezogen. Knapp drei Jahre nach seiner letzten Arbeit als Regisseur verstarb Sydney Pollack am 26. Mai 2008 in Los Angeles an Magenkrebs. In meiner Hausarbeit mchte ich das Leben und Werk von Sydney Pollack betrachten. Im Vordergrund dabei steht die Frage nach der Entwicklung Pollacks im Laufe der Jahre. Um diesen persnlichen und beruflichen Fortschritt zu ergrnden werde ich, beginnend mit einer Betrachtung seiner Biografie, Stcke seines Werkes und die Meinungen im Spiegel der Medien nher beleuchten. Verschiedene Filme aus unterschiedlichen Zeitabschnitten seiner Karriere werden mir in Verbindung mit privaten Ereignissen und Beziehungen Aufschluss ber die Vernderungen in Sydney Pollacks Arbeit geben. Ich werde versuchen die oben von mir aufgestellten Thesen durch dieses Vorgehen zu begrnden bzw. zu belegen.About the AuthorConstanze Arnold wurde 1989 in Thringen geboren. Neben ihrem Studium im Fach Journalistik/Medienmanagement an der Hochschule MagdeburgStendal sammelte Constanze Arnold praktische Erfahrungen durch die Produktion kurzer Dokumentarfilme, die Arbeit in einer Leipziger Filmproduktionsfirma sowie in der VideoAbteilung der Nachrichtenagentur dapd. Seit 2011 arbeitet sie als freiberufliche Journalistin und Eventfilmerin. Von 2012 bis 2014 arbeitete die Autorin an einer Studie zur Demokratieforschung als wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin am Zentrum fr Sozialforschung in Halle. Aktuell ist Constanze Arnold als freie Redakteurin bei der Handwerkskammer zu Leipzig ttig.
