Die Ubersetzungen der IsidorGruppe gehoren zu den altesten Prosadenkmalern des Deutschen und sind damit fur die diachrone Syntaxforschung von aussergewohnlichem Interesse. Ihre beiden grossten Texte der IsidorTraktat und das MatthausEvangelium fallen ausserdem aufgrund ihrer relativ guten Ubersetzungsqualitat auf. Diese ist jedoch keineswegs homogen: Der Traktat gilt als die bessere Ubersetzung, doch weist auch er qualitative Schwankungen zwischen den relativ "originaltreuen" Passagen alttestamentarischer Bibelstellen und "gelungeneren" Kommentarteilen auf. Wirken hier verschiedene Prinzipien der Ubersetzung? Konnen die beobachtbaren stilistischen Unterschiede zwischen Traktat und Evangelium auf nur einen Ubersetzer zuruckgehen? In der vorliegenden Studie werden zwar in erster Linie linguistische Phanomene (nichtkanonische Verbstellungsmuster und die Nullsubjektsoption) diskutiert, doch wird deren Distribution fur eine stilistische Neubewertung der einzelnen Texte nutzbar gemacht. Auf der Grundlage dieser Daten erscheint auch die Verfasserfrage in einem neuen Licht.
