Dieses Buch wendet sich an Ingenieurstudenten der Anfangssemester. Es will den Leser mit den Grundlagen von Statik, Elastostatik, Kinematik und Kinetik vertraut machen und ihm die Fihigkeit zum selbstandigen Losen von Aufgaben vermitteln. Es will darlegen, wie sich Intuition und Anschauung mit Hilfe von Begriffen klar fassen und durch formale Ansatze ausdriicken lassen. Die Erfahrung der Autoren mit Studenten der Elektrotechnik zeigt, daB viele Anfanger den Weg von der Problemstellung zur Losung verlieren, wenn man ihn nicht systematisch anlegt. Deshalb fassen wir die Grundannahmen in zehn Axio men zusammen und losen Aufgaben (ab Abschnitt 1.10) nach einem einheitli chen Schema, das von der Statik ausgehend auch die Kinetik erfaBt, wozu dort konsequent mit d' Alemenbertschen (Tragheits) KraIten und Momenten gear beitet wird. Diese Systematik unterstutzend werden die Beispiele und auch eine Reihe von allgemeinen Aussagen nach dem Muster Gegeben/Gesucht/Losung behandelt. Trotz der kurzen Darstellung wiederholen wir wichtige Dinge gele gentlich, urn sie zu betonen. Die Forderung nach Anschaulichkeit und der knappe Raum gebieten, viele Aus sagen am charakteristischen Beispiel herauszuarbeiten und zu besprechenj der Leser erkennt unmittelbar die allgemeine Bedeutung. Auf graphische Methoden wird weitgehend verzichtetj dreidimensionale (raumliche) Aufgabenstellungen werden nur vereinzelt betrachtet. Beiden Verfassern hat E. Moncks Einfiihrungsvorlesung Technische Mechanik so gut gefallen, daB sie in Teilen deren Gliederung folgen. Aus V. M. Starzinskijs Theoretischer Mechanik kam die Anregung, die Grundannahmen der Statik als Axiome herauszustellen.
