Zack was also a man who loved his women, so there are a lot of strong women characters in his storyincluding Calamity Jane Cannary. This is not a traditional Western novel, its a capsulated history of the historical events and people during the time of Americas westward expansion (with a little bit of legend thrown in!) Its a great read for both men and womenyoung adults to oldtimers.
