If God is transcendent, how can human beings speak meaningfully about him? For centuries philosophers and theologians have asked whether and how it is possible to talk about God. The shared answer to this question goes by the name of analogy, which recognizes both similarity and difference between the divine being and human language. In the twentieth century, Karl Barth, Erich Przywara, Hans Urs von Balthasar and Eberhard Jngel explored this question in new and controversial ways that continue to shape contemporary debates in theology. In The Analogy of Faith: The Quest for Gods Speakability, Archie Spencer examines the problem of analogy in its ancient, medieval and modern forms. He argues for a Christological version of Barth?s analogy of faith, informed by Jngels analogy of advent, as the way forward for Protestant theology in answering the problem of Gods speakability.

This book dives deep into the complexities of faith and communication within evangelical theology. The author’s approach is thought-provoking, and I found a lot of the strategic initiatives really insightful for my own spiritual journey. Highly valuable for anyone involved in ministry!

A Bit Dense, but Worth It
While I appreciate the depth of the content, I found some sections a bit dense and hard to follow. It's clear the author knows their stuff, but I had to reread a few parts. Still, it's a solid book for anyone serious about understanding God’s speakability in theology.

Engaging and Challenging
I really enjoyed this book! It challenges you to think about how God communicates with us and the role of faith in that process. The strategic initiatives are fascinating and relevant for today's evangelical community. Would definitely suggest it to my peers!

Great Resource for Theologians
I bought this for a class on evangelical theology, and it fits perfectly within the curriculum. The strategic initiatives discussed are relevant and applicable. Just wish it had more practical examples to illustrate some points!

Not What I Expected
I was looking for something more straightforward. This book is quite academic, and while it has its merits, it felt more like a reference book than a casual read. Maybe best for theologians rather than general readers.
