This book is a result of the first international colloquium on ancient Cyprus which was held at Brock University, St. Catherine's, Ontario, Canada in October, 1971. Some thirdfive scholars engaged in Cypriot studies gathered at Brock to pay tribute to Dr. Vassos Karageorghis, Director of the Department of Antiquities in the Republic of Cyprus, and to participate in the colloquium. Ten of the papers delivered on that occasion, together with Dr. Karageorgis' address, are printed in this book, which has been edited by Noel Robertson, Chairman of the Department of Classics of Brock University, who has also written the introduction .
