This annotated checklist of the birds of Tikal National Park and Peten, Guatemala, is designed especially for these bird enthusiasts. The detailed account of the bird species found in the region provides information on when, where, and in what numbers each species should be expected. In addition to the seasonal graphlike checklist that presents the relative abundance and occurrence of 403 species of birds, this book includes an introduction (with maps) and a description of the birding habitats with accompanying blackandwhite photographs. A species account on 114 Peten species not previously treated in books on the region is also provided. Each account presents the current status and the specific habitats and/or localities from which these species have been reported. Appendices at the end of the book provide lists of all species by status, and whether species occurrences are supported by specimen records of sight records.
