This book tells the story of the series of secret agents who, since Napoleon I and the Great Game, precipitated the collapse of the Ottoman Empire and then obtained control of the worlds oil supplies for the West in general, and for the AngloSaxon world in particular at the price of two world wars and countless regional conflicts. Though this saga is akin to an adventure story, the immense misfortunes which have fallen upon the oilpossessing nations for over a century are far from the stuff of dreams.Current events confirm that the black gold spies have a great future ahead of them. But they also remind us that the spy business is well on the way to being privatised, meaning that, to paraphrase Montesquieu, the days when espionage might have been tolerated when exercised by honest people are gone for good. Given that the Western powers are not about to drop their double standards when it comes to the protection of their oil interests, the future does not look too bright.

The Black Gold Spies has a neat idea, but I found the rules a bit confusing at first. It took us a few rounds to really grasp how everything worked. Once we did, it was fun, but the learning curve was steeper than expected. Still, we enjoyed our time with it.

We bought The Black Gold Spies for our game nights and it's been a hit! The suspense is real, and everyone loves plotting against each other. The artwork on the cards is really cool too. Highly recommend for anyone looking to spice up their game collection!

Disappointed in the quality
I was really excited to try The Black Gold Spies, but I was let down when I received it. The box was slightly damaged during shipping, and some of the cards looked worn out already. I hope the next order is better, but I can't recommend this one right now.
