Product Description Book by Review The Book of Jubilees, or, as it is sometimes called, 'the little Genesis, ' purports to be a revelation given by God to Moses through the medium of an angel ('the angel of the Presence, ' 1:27), and containing a history, divided up into jubileeperiods of fortynine years, from the creation to the coming of Moses. Though the actual narrative of events is only carried down to the birth and early career of Moses, its author envisages the events of a later time, and in particular certain events of special interest at the time when he wrote, which was probably in the latter years of the second century B.C., perhaps in the reign of the Maccabean prince John Hyrcanus. from the Introduction About the Author R. H. Charles (18551931) was Professor of Biblical Greek at Trinity College Dublin (18981906), He was elected a fellow of the British Academy in 1906, and a fellow of Merton College, Oxford in 1910. In 1925 he was the first recipient of the British Academy Medal for Biblical Studies. Charles also received honorary degrees from the Universities of Belfast in 1923 and Oxford in 1928. His publications include: 'The Apocalypse of Baruch, ' 'The Testaments of the Twelve Patriarchs, ' and 'The Apocrypha and Pseudepigrapha of the Old Testament in English' (2 vols.).
