In August 1944 the British Pacific Fleet did not exist. Six months later it was strong enough to launch air attacks on Japanese territory, and by the end of the war it constituted the most powerful force in the history of the Royal Navy, fighting as professional equals alongside the U.S. Navy in the thick of the action. How this was achieved by a nation nearing exhaustion after five years of conflict is a story of epic proportions in which ingenuity, diplomacy and dogged persistence all played a part. This groundbreaking work describes the background, creation and expansion of the British Pacific Fleet from its first tentative strikes to its impact on the immediate postwar period. The book is the first to demonstrate the British Pacific Fleets impressive achievement.

I picked this up hoping for a deep dive into the fleet's operations in the Pacific. While it has some great stories, I felt that some sections were a bit rushed and could have used more detail. Still a good read if you're into military history, just not exactly what I was expecting.

A Must-Read for Navy Enthusiasts
As a history buff, I absolutely loved this book on the British Pacific Fleet. The detailed accounts of their missions and the powerful strike force strategy really bring the Royal Navy to life. It's packed with fascinating facts and illustrations that kept me engaged from cover to cover.

Disappointed with the Presentation
I was really looking forward to reading about the British Pacific Fleet, but the book arrived with a damaged cover, which was disappointing. The content seems interesting, but the presentation affected my overall enjoyment. I hope my next purchase is in better shape.
