HansGeorg Gadamer (b. 1900) is widely recognized as the leading exponent of philosophical hermeneutics. The essays in this collection examine Gadamers biography, the core of hermeneutical theory, and the significance of his work for ethics, aesthetics, the social sciences, and theology. They consider his appropriation of Hegel, Heidegger, and the Greeks and his relation to modernity, critical theory, and poststructuralism. New readers will find this Companion the most convenient and accessible guide to Gadamer currently available. Advanced students and specialists will find a conspectus of recent developments in the interpretation of Gadamer.

I was really looking forward to this book, but it arrived with a bent cover and some pages were dog-eared. The content seems great, but the condition it came in was a letdown. I expected better for the price.

Mixed Feelings on Content Quality
While the book offers some valuable insights into Gadamer's thought, I found a few essays to be a bit dry. I'm glad I purchased it, but not every chapter held my interest. Still, it's a decent addition to my philosophy collection.

A Thought-Provoking Read
This book is an excellent introduction to Gadamer's philosophy. The essays are insightful and really help clarify his ideas for anyone new to hermeneutics. I find myself going back to certain sections often as I explore more about philosophy.
