A poet, painter, and engraver, William Blake died in 1827 in obscurity. Yet he has become one of the most anthologized writers in English and one of the most collected British artists. His urge to create masterpieces of revelation has left complex (and sometimes bizarre) works of written and visual art. The essays in this Companion and a chronology, guides to further reading, and glossary of Blakes terms identify the key points of departure into Blakes diverse world.

I was excited to receive the Cambridge Companion to William Blake, but when it arrived, the cover had a few scuff marks. The content is fantastic for anyone interested in Blake, but that packaging issue was a bummer. I’ll keep it, but I wish it came in better condition.

Good resource but somewhat dense
The Cambridge Companion to William Blake has some valuable information for those studying his life and works, but I found some of the essays a bit heavy. It’s great for academic settings, but it could be a tough read for casual fans. Still, worth having on the shelf!
