Married to the feminist Naganuma Chieko, Takamura Kotaro modeled their relationship on sexual equality. In 1931 Chieko began to show signs of schizophrenia, which led to attempted suicide. In 1935 Takamura was forced to commit his wife, who died of tuberculosis three years later. These poems, centered on their relationship, are translated here for the first time.

I bought the Chieko Poems book for my daughter, and she absolutely loves it! The green cover is gorgeous and vibrant. The poetry inside is beautifully written and really resonates with her. I’m glad I found this gem!

Lovely, but Lacks Depth
I found the Chieko Poems nice enough, with a pretty green cover, but I was hoping for more depth in the poetry. It's good for a light read, but I expected a bit more complexity. Still, it's a decent book for casual poetry lovers.

Poetry That Inspires
The Chieko Poems are quite touching. I enjoy the themes and how they explore emotions in a simple way. The green color of the book adds a nice touch to my bookshelf, too. Definitely worth picking up if you appreciate poetry!
