This volume presents all known Conrad letters from the years 19171919 (many of them published for the first time) in a framework highlighting their literary, historical, cultural, and biographical significance. His correspondence reveals his state of mind as he and his family dealt with the anxieties of the war time years, and the return to a fragile peace. During this time, Conrad published The ShadowLine, The Arrow of Gold, and The Rescue, along with a considerable amount of shorter works, and was engaged in a critical rereading of his earlier books.

As a huge fan of Joseph Conrad, I was thrilled to get my hands on this volume. The collection is beautifully put together, and the quality is top-notch. The Cambridge Edition really captures the essence of his correspondence and gives great context to his works. Highly recommend for any literature lover!

Great for Scholars, A Bit Dense
This volume of Conrad's letters is fascinating but can be a bit overwhelming at times. It's fantastic for research or deepening understanding of his themes, but not the most casual read. The annotations are useful, though a little more context would have been appreciated. Still, it's a valuable addition for those interested in literary history.

Cover Arrived Damaged, But Content Is Good
I was excited to receive the letters of Joseph Conrad, but I was disappointed when the cover came bent and a bit torn. The letters themselves are insightful, but the packaging could have been better. It’s a pity because I wanted to gift this to my friend who loves his work. Just wanted to make sure the next edition is packed better!
