Got this volume of Hardy's letters recently. It’s fascinating, but some parts felt a bit tedious. I love Hardy’s novels, so I thought I’d enjoy his letters more. There are definitely gems in here, but it's not a page-turner like his fiction.

A treasure for Hardy fans!
I picked up "The Collected Letters of Thomas Hardy Vol. 1" and it's a fantastic read. The letters give such insight into his life and thoughts, especially from 1840 to 1892. It's like getting to know the man behind the novels. I’ve found myself lost in the pages during quiet evenings.

A detailed look into Hardy's thoughts
This collection is a goldmine for anyone studying Thomas Hardy. The letters from 1840 to 1892 are presented beautifully and really reflect his thoughts on life and literature. I’m using it for my thesis, and it’s been incredibly helpful. Worth every penny!

Not what I expected
I was excited to read Hardy's letters but found that some of the content didn’t resonate with me. Maybe I just prefer his storytelling over personal correspondence? The quality is good, and it’s a nice hardcover, but it wasn’t engaging enough for me.
