After escaping from forced residency on an island off the coast of Italy, Malatesta made his way to London and eventually Paterson, New Jersey, in 1899. Here, among thousands of weavers in the burgeoning silk industry, Malatesta contributed to the anarchist press and was caught up in intrigue with fellow Italian anarchistsresulting in a bullet to the leg on September 3, 1899. From the columns of Questione Sociale, he addressed the themes of organization, the anarchist program, freedom as a method, the problem of love, bourgeois influences of anarchism, and much more. Incorporating Malatestas articles on the American situation, unpublished interviews, and reports on French and Spanish conferencessuch as those held in Cuba in March 1900this volume demonstrates the transnational dimension of Malatestas activity, the breadth of his views and experiences, and his prominent role in labor and anarchist movements on both sides of the Atlantic. Includes an introduction by the late historian Nunzio Pernicone.

I was excited to dive into this volume, but it arrived with a few pages dog-eared and the cover slightly bent. It feels like the shipping could've been better handled. The content itself is interesting, but the condition was a letdown.

Insightful Look at Malatesta's Life
I really enjoyed reading this volume on Malatesta in America. The historical context and insights into his life from 1899 to 1900 were fascinating. If you're into anarchist theory or just want to know more about influential figures, this is a great choice!

A Solid Read but Not for Everyone
While I appreciate the depth of content in this volume, it can be a bit dense at times. The historical references might be hard to follow for those new to Malatesta's work. Still, if you're keen on anarchist literature, it's worth the read!
