Historical fiction. Based on the life of Ignaz Semmelweis (b. 1818 d. 1865), an AustrianHungarian physician known for his research into puerperal fever and his advances in medical hygiene. In the novel he struggles to prove to his fellow doctors that if they would only wash their hands, they would save the lives of many mothers.

I recently finished reading 'The Cry and the Covenant' and found it very engaging, albeit a little slow in parts. The author's portrayal of the characters is rich, and the historical context is fascinating. If you're into historical fiction, it's worth picking up, but be prepared for some slower sections.

Great story but lengthy descriptions
I enjoyed the storyline of 'The Cry and the Covenant' a lot! The themes are powerful and resonate well, though I felt some of the descriptions were too lengthy, which slowed me down. Still, I would suggest this book to anyone who loves a deep dive into character-driven narratives.

Not my cup of tea
I wanted to like 'The Cry and the Covenant' based on the summary, but it didn't capture my interest as I hoped. The pacing felt off and I struggled to get through some sections. Maybe it just wasn't for me, but I wouldn’t recommend it if you prefer fast-paced reads.
