Seeking ways to break the Union Armys coastal blockade, the Confederates manufactured the CSS Hunley, the first submarine in history to sink an enemy ship. The CSS Hunley tells a story of personal courage, technical ingenuity, and grim persistence during the United States most trying conflict.

I picked up 'The Greatest Undersea Adventure of the Civil War' as a gift for my dad who loves history. He couldn’t put it down! The vivid details of the CSS Hunley’s mission really brought the story to life. Highly engaging and informative!

Disappointing lack of engagement
I was really excited to read 'The Greatest Undersea Adventure of the Civil War', but it felt more like a textbook than a thrilling adventure. The narrative didn’t pull me in, and I ended up not finishing it. Not what I expected!

Interesting but a bit slow at times
I appreciated the depth of research in this book about the Hunley. Some parts felt a bit drawn out though, especially the technical descriptions. Still, if you’re into Civil War history, it's worth a read. Just be ready for some slow sections.
