Told for the first time, this is the full story of the infamous showtrial of John Demjanjuk, falsely accused of being one of the most monstrous of Nazi war criminals, Ivan the Terrible of Treblinka. The trial of an alleged Nazi naturally arouses strong emotions, and the pressure to convict can become overwhelming. In the case of John Demjanjuk, extradited to Israel from the United States in 1986 and held for over seven years before finally being cleared, only the dogged determination and dedication of his lawyer prevented an appalling miscarriage of justice.

Honestly, I thought this book would focus more on Demjanjuk himself, but it dives deep into the implications of the trial. It’s enlightening, but I wish there was more personal narrative. If you're after a legal textbook vibe, this is your book; if not, maybe look elsewhere.

A gripping read about a historic trial
I picked up 'The Demjanjuk Affair' because I was fascinated by the trial itself. The author does an excellent job detailing the legal battles and the media frenzy surrounding the case. It's a heavy topic, but the way it's presented kept me turning the pages. Definitely a must-read for anyone interested in history and justice!

Somewhat dry at times
While I appreciate the depth of research in 'The Demjanjuk Affair', I found some sections a bit slow. The historical context is fascinating, but it could use a bit more narrative flair to keep the reader engaged. Still, it's informative and worth it for history buffs!

Disappointing and confusing at times
I was really excited to read 'The Demjanjuk Affair', but I struggled with the dense writing. Some chapters felt convoluted, making it hard to follow the flow of the case. I had hoped for a more engaging narrative. Just not my cup of tea.

Eye-opening exploration of a controversial trial
This book really sheds light on the complexities of the Demjanjuk trial and the moral questions it raised. I found it incredibly well-researched, and it opened my eyes to a part of history I knew little about. Perfect for those interested in legal history and ethics!
