The first publication of Drama of Being a Child and of this 1997 edition are separated by fifteen years of experience the authors experience with her own selftherapy and with other recent therapy methods, and finally her knowledge of the life histories of the several thousand readers who have written to her. The research into childhood she has undertaken in this period has led to further finetuning of her earlier findings, as is ocumented and illustrated here with an abundance of examples. The author examines the consequences of repression at personal and social levels, the causes of the physical and psychological harm done to children and how this can be prevented, and finally the new methods at our disposal for dealing with the consequences of infant traumas.

I was really looking forward to reading this, but the book arrived with a few pages wrinkled. Also, the story didn't resonate with me as much as I thought it would. Disappointed, to say the least.

Beautifully Written but Confusing at Times
The writing in this book is beautiful, but I struggled with some of the themes. It felt like it jumped around a lot, making it hard to follow. I bought it for my son, but I think I appreciated it more than he did. A mixed bag!

A Journey Worth Taking
This book beautifully captures the essence of childhood and self-discovery. The narrative is so relatable for both kids and adults, it reminds me of my own journey growing up. Highly recommend it for anyone looking to understand the trials of being a child.

Depth and Insight
I found this book to be insightful but a bit slow in parts. The exploration of a child's search for identity is profound, yet some chapters dragged on. It's still a good read if you're interested in psychology and development.
