The Ecocriticism Reader is the first collection of its kind, an anthology of classic and cuttingedge writings in the rapidly emerging field of literary ecology. Exploring the relationship between literature and the physical environment, literary ecology is the study of the ways that writing both reflects and influences our interactions with the natural world. An introduction to the field as well as a source book, The Ecocriticism Reader defines ecological literary discourse and sketches its development over the past quartercentury. The twentyfive selections in this volume, a mixture of reprinted and original essays, look backward to origins and forward to trends and provide generally appealing and lucidly written examples of the range of ecological approaches to literature. Lists of recommended readings, relevant periodicals, and professional organizations offer direction for further study. The Ecocriticism Reader is an illuminating entree into a field of study fully engaged with our most pressing contemporary problemthe global environmental crisis.

I was really looking forward to this reader, but it arrived with some pages slightly damaged and the print quality isn't great. The content seems amazing, but I'm frustrated with how it was packaged and shipped. Not sure if I’d order again.

Interesting Concept but Somewhat Dry
I was excited to dive into 'The Ecocriticism Reader', but some articles felt a bit too academic for my taste. While the content is important, it often lacks engagement. I appreciate the effort but wished for a more lively presentation.

An Eye-Opening Experience
This reader is packed with fascinating essays that really make you think about the relationship between literature and the environment. I gifted it to my friend who loves both reading and nature, and she has not been able to put it down. Truly enlightening!
