About the Author Rod Conover was born in St. Louis and held a number of occupations, including aircraft electrician, soldier, power station employee, printer and a foreman in the plastics industry. After retiring, Rod began writing short stories as a hobby. He always claimed that the objective of his work was to offend every race, religion, nationality, occupation, class, age group, political persuasion and lifestyle. As this book proves, he was close to reaching that goal. When friends and relatives asked to read his work, they were well received and Rod was urged to get them published. Sadly, death cut short his efforts. Rod's widow, Maxine, and his children Robin and Brian decided to accomplish this goal for Rod with the help of agent Paula King. They hope you enjoy reading his stories. Product Description The Embalmer's Apprentice and Other Stories of the Macabre is a compendium of bizarre short stories, dwelling on subjects ranging from the abnormal to the stomachchurning. Here you will find abominations galore; where the Unnatural is the norm, the Unearthly is the usual, and the Unholy is the orthodox. In this irreverent volume, no depravity is too atrocious, no carnage too gory, no malevolence too wicked. These stories are not for the squeamish or the fastidious. This grisly volume encompasses the spectrum of horror from Agony to Zombie, included, but not limited to tales of Cannibalism, Demons, Butchery, Entombment, the Occult, Madness, Satan, the Undead, Voodoo, Nightmares, Possession, Ghouls, and Vampires. It is best read on an empty stomach. Bon Appetit!
