Product Description The general topic of this book, miscarried justice, is suggested by the title's allusion to the sightlessness of the proverbial representation of justice. Viewpoints from several academic disciplines, e.g., philosophy, sociology, linguistics, criminal justice, literary criticism, and religious studies, are brought together with theories of law. This collection is not only interdisciplinary but crosscultural as well. The common language is 'legal semiotics', in both a Peircean and nonPeircean idiolect. This collection is a rich, crossreferential research tool for investigators of law and semiotics in all its aspects. About the Author The Editor: Roberta Kevelson was Distinguished Professor of Philosophy at Penn State where she directed the Center for Semiotic Research in Law, Government and Economics. Professor Kevelson died in 1998. The Contributors: Roberta Kevelson; Robin Paul Malloy; Margaret Chon; Denis J. Brion; Bruce A. Arrigo; Christopher K. Braun; M.A.R. Habib; Bernard E. Jacob; Jay A. Knaack; Lenora Ledwon; Joel Levin; Judith A. McMorrow; William Pencak; Bruce L. Rockwood; Michele Taruffo; Rajni Verma; Gordon E. Whitney; Willem J. Witteveen.
