The reception of literature is never an exclusively literary phenomenon; it is embedded in a broader political, social, and cultural context. The articles in this volume deal with nineteenthand twentiethcentury writers, covering a period of almost two hundred years, and the contributors analyze the subjects from a variety of perspectives, offering a multifaceted view.
