After graduation from Notre Dame in 1940, John Henebry entered the Army Air Corps Flying Cadet Program. Upon graduation he was assigned to the pacific Theater. During WWII he flew 219 combat missions. In 1948, at the age of 30, Henebry was promoted to Brigadier General, making him one of the youngest generals in U.S.A.F. history.
