Come meet Mr. 'Coon, Mr. 'Possum, and Mr. Crow, who live in the Hollow Tree in the Deep Woods. Your children will be as delighted with their adventures in these stories as the children in the late 1890's when they first were written by Albert Bigelow Paine (and illustrated by J. M. Cond). These stories were extremely popular at the time, having many different reprints and releases, and will make a fine addition to your child's library. The general setting and tone of the book is 'the story teller' who sits in a rocking chair in front of the old fireplace, with the 'Little Lady' sitting on his lap as he smokes a pipe and tells the stories of the Hollow Tree Folk and their various adventures."The Hollow Tree and Deep Woods" is the first in the threebook "Hollow Tree Series." It has twentythree of these entertaining Albert Paine stories, with 114 fineart penandink J. M. Cond illustrations, and contains the entirety of the original book. The illustrations are new highquality scans from First Edition books and the text is newly transcribed from the same. You and your child will both enjoy adding this book to your library!Albert Bigelow Paine (10 July 1861 9 April 1937) was an American author and biographer best known for his work with Mark Twain. Paine was a member of the Pulitzer Prize Committee. He spent most of his life in Europe, including France where he wrote two books about Joan of Arc. This work was so well received in France that he was awarded the title of Chevalier in the Lgion d'honneur by the French government. For a time he served as an editor of St. Nicholas Magazine, a leading children's periodical of the time.He was the official biographer and literary executor for Mark Twain, and worked with him (and on his behalf after his death) on various projects. His work on Twain's unfinished story "The Mysterious Stranger" saw him combine three versions of the story into one.
