Product Description The Jesus Seminar revived the historical search for the works and deeds of Jesus by fashioning new, persuasive criteria of authenticity. Using those criteria, one is able to discern that Jesus of Nazareth was the individual whom the early community of believers (the evangelists, Paul) identified as the promised one, i.e., the Christ. This book is an ideal Christology resource for religious studies course and college students of theology. This work demonstrates an openness to historical arguments about the Christ of faith, confronts the scepticism articulated by Rudolf Bultmann, and is a balanced perspective and consideration of the quest for the historical Jesus based on two aspects in this important discussion, the Jesus of history and the Christ of faith. About the Author Daniel Liderbach, SJ, taught theology at the college level for twentynine years. He is the author of three previously published Paulist Press titles, Christ in the Early Christian Hymns (1998), Why Do We Suffer? (1992), and The Numinous Universe (1989). He is now parochial vicar at the Colombiere Center in Clarkston, MI.
