The Letters of Madame is a compilation of the correspondence of ElizabethCharlotte of Bavaria, also known as Princess Palatine and Duchess of Orleans, during her time at the court of King Louis XIV from 1661 to 1708. The letters were collected and edited by Gertrude Scott Stevenson and published in two volumes. The first volume contains letters from 1661 to 1682, while the second volume covers 1683 to 1708. The letters provide a unique insight into the daily life and political intrigues of the French court during the reign of Louis XIV, as well as the personal thoughts and feelings of one of its most prominent figures. The collection includes letters to family members, friends, and acquaintances, as well as to the king himself. I really enjoyed this collection, but some letters were a bit hard to get through. Elizabeth Charlotte had a unique voice that shines through, though! If you're patient, it really enriches your understanding of her life and times.

Disappointing Quality
Was excited to read The Letters of Madame, but the copy I received had some pages stuck together and felt poorly printed. Such a shame because the content seemed interesting. Hoping to get a replacement soon!
