Stokes, a lifelong academic in Russian language and literature at the Universities of London, Liverpool, and Oxford, the latter until his retirement in 1987. Ownership penned to FEP. A newspaper review from 'The Times Literary Supplement', dated 14.3.1980 is laid in. General shelf and handling wear, including notable tanning to DJ, spine detail is completely faded, with minor creasing to cover edges. Marked foxing to front pastedown and FEP.
