I really enjoyed 'The Marble Statue as Idea'. The essays offer deep insights into Adalbert Stifter's work, especially 'Der Nachsommer'. The academic approach is engaging, but some essays are a bit dense for casual readers. Still, worth the read for anyone interested in German literature!

Great Resource for Academic Studies
As a grad student in German literature, 'The Marble Statue as Idea' is a fantastic resource. The essays really dissect Stifter's philosophy in 'Der Nachsommer'. I found it helpful for my thesis, and the insights are invaluable.

Insightful but Heavy Read
I picked this up hoping for an easy dive into Stifter's themes, but some chapters were quite heavy. The essays are well-researched and insightful, but don’t expect a light read. It’s definitely an academic piece more than a casual book.

Not for Everyone, But Valuable
This collection has some solid essays, but I found a few too specialized for my taste. If you’re familiar with Stifter, you’ll probably appreciate it more. I bought it for a literature course, and it did help spark discussions!
