Max Euwe was World Chess Champion in the 1930s and he collaborated with International Master Kramer to write this great treatise on how to play chess middlegames. Book I of the series covers pawn formations and static features of the game of chess. Thousands of satisfied customers have made this one of the most popular books on chess middlegames. Completely re-edited and translated to algebraic notation in this 1994 edition.

I bought the Middlegame Book I used, hoping to get a solid resource for improving my chess. Unfortunately, it arrived with noticeable damage on the cover and some pages were torn, which really put me off. I expected better for the price. It’s a good book, but I wouldn’t pay for a used one like this again.

Decent book, but a few pages were marked
This algebraic edition of the Middlegame Book I has a lot of valuable information, but I was disappointed to find a few pages with some highlights. It’s useful, but I wish the used condition was a bit better. Still, I’ve learned a lot from it!

Great for learning chess concepts
I picked up the Middlegame Book I in the algebraic edition because I wanted to improve my chess strategy. The static features make it easy to follow along, and the used condition was actually better than I expected. It’s been super helpful in understanding complex positions!
