Product Description Neela and Raj, sister and brother, live in New Jersey. They get in trouble and it has something to do with India. They feel at a loss about what to do when a magical door takes them to India and throws them in the middle of Indias struggle for freedom from the British. They are about to live the story that has inspired the world. What adventures wait for them? What challenges will they face? Will they find the answers they are looking for? About the Author Harjot Singh grew up in India and lives in California with his wife and two children. He has been reading books and telling stories as long as he can remember. This book grew out of his storytelling to his children about Indian culture and history, especially the stories that move him and make his heart beat faster. When not writing, he has fun juggling his roles as a husband, father and a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist. Aninda Dutta, the Illustrator, is a graduate of California State University School of Engineering. He had formal art training as a child, but most of it is self taught. This is his first illustrated book and he looks forward to doing many more. He lives in California with his wife and two children. This is the first book in the Adventures Through the Door series. They are for ages 8 and above. They are fiction, yet their roots are in real events. Early reviews for The Nightingale Sings in India: 'I truly believe that a good book stirs your emotions, and The Nightingale Sings in India did just that! It left me with a smile on my lips and tears in my eyes! Being an Indian and South African, I have a strong connection to what happens in the book. The book incorporates values of culture, patriotism and curiosity.' Bindia P., Mother and Middle School Teacher, California 'Very well written book and I enjoyed reading it. Educational and fun. I learned about my culture and an important historical event. Plot is excellent and makes you want to read more. The moral is very good. It would be a good book for a book report. I would definitely recommend this to my friends.' Nandini, 12, California 'India's rich history revealed to its sons and daughters born and living in a foreign land. A must read.' Marion Bowman, UK 'My ancestors took part in the events described in the book and now I read the book with my tenyearold son. What a personal experience! We didn't want to put the book down. I highly recommend it if you want your children and yourself to feel connected to India.' P.M., Father Georgia 'Excellent plot; I couldn't wait to find out the identity of the nightingale. The themes of hope, kindness, bravery and pride in culture all have place in today's culture. The characters are truetolife, children can identify easily.'
