One name above all others has become associated with walking in the Lake District: Alfred Wainwright, whose sevenvolume Pictorial Guide to the Lakeland Fells, first published in 195566, has become the definitive guidebook. Wainwrights meticulously handdrawn maps, diagrams and drawings take you up the 214 principal hills and mountains of the Lake District, describing the main routes of ascent from different starting points, as well as lesserknown variants, showing the summit viewpoint panoramas and the ridge routes that can be made to create longer walks. The Northern Fells, Book Five of Wainwrights Walking Guide, covers an area that encompasses both the gentler gradients of the Uldale and Caldbeck Fells and the spectacular mountains of Skiddaw and Blencathra. This new edition has been comprehensively revised by writer and designer Clive Hutchby, author of The Wainwright Companion. Paths, maps, diagrams and route descriptions have been checked and corrected throughout in this new portable, pocketsized flexibound format that can easily be packed and carried in a walkers rucksack.

If you're an experienced hiker looking to tackle the Northern Fells, this book is excellent. The detailed routes and insights into the landscape are spot on. I appreciate how it expands on Wainwright's original works!

Perfect for Lake District Adventures!
I bought the Northern Fells Walkers Edition for my hiking trip in the Lake District, and it was super helpful! The detailed maps and guidance made finding the trails a breeze, and I loved the historical notes included. Definitely a must-have for anyone exploring the fells!

Not the best for beginners
I got this guide hoping to explore the fells, but I think it's a bit advanced for someone new like me. The descriptions sometimes assume prior knowledge, which can be daunting. It’s a good book, just not for first-timers. Just my experience!

Good content but delivery was late
The content of the Northern Fells guidebook is fantastic, but my delivery took longer than expected. I was eager to start planning my hikes, so that was a bit frustrating. I’m excited to finally dive in!

Good guide, but some trails are tricky
This guide is pretty solid for most of the Northern Fells, but I found a couple of trails not well marked. Still, the information was mostly accurate and the layout is user-friendly. Just be prepared to do a bit of extra navigating now and then!
