Among the most important of all bird groups, pheasants account for the most abundant domesticated species (the domestic fowl), the most extensively hunted upland game bird (the common pheasant), and some of the most spectacularly beautiful of all large birds (the giant argus). This lavishly illustrated volume gives uptodate information on the distribution, status, and biology of all 49 species, with special attention paid to those that are vulnerable, rare, or threatened. Including range maps and identification keys, The Pheasants of the World is a comprehensive reference not only for ornithologists and conservationists seeking to ensure the survival of the group, but also for aviculturists and others who want to better understand the nature of these splendid birds.

This book is a real treasure for anyone interested in birds, especially pheasants. The detailed biology and natural history presented is fascinating, and the illustrations are stunning. I bought it as a gift for my dad, and he can't put it down!

Arrived Damaged, But Content is Great
Unfortunately, my copy had a dented cover when it arrived, which was disappointing. However, the biology and details about pheasants are really interesting and well-researched. Just wish it had arrived in better condition!

Informative but a Bit Dense
I appreciate the depth of information in this book, but some sections felt a bit heavy to get through. The natural history part is great, but it could use more engaging storytelling. Still, I learned a lot about pheasants!
