In 1986, Afghanistan was torn apart by a war with the Soviet Union. This graphic novel/photo-journal is a record of one reporter’s arduous and dangerous journey through Afghanistan, accompanying the Doctors Without Borders. Didier Lefevre’s photography, paired with the art of Emmanuel Guibert, tells the powerful story of a mission undertaken by men and women dedicated to mending the wounds of war.

As a photographer, I found this book truly captivating. It gives a raw insight into the challenges faced in war-torn Afghanistan, and the work done by Doctors Without Borders is incredibly inspiring. The photos are stunning and really bring the story to life.

Interesting but a bit heavy
The narrative is gripping, but the weight of the subject matter can be a lot to handle. I appreciate the effort of the author and the photography is top-notch. Just make sure you're in the right mood to read something so intense.

Not for everyone, but very impactful
I bought this for my brother who’s into photography. He enjoyed the visuals but mentioned that some parts were a bit too heavy for him. It’s definitely a unique perspective on a difficult topic.

A must-have for any photographer
Wow! This book is a treasure for photographers. The images are powerful and convey emotion like nothing else. The stories behind them make it even more special. I can't recommend it enough to those passionate about photography and humanitarian work.
