The Pueblos A history of the Pueblo peoples of New Mexico, and their quest to preserve their culture and religious beliefs in the face of foreign invasion by the Spanish. From the historical beginnings of the Pueblos, until the present day, much has changed within their culture, but much has also been left unchanged. The efforts of such leaders of the Pueblo Revolt of 1680 attempted to return the Pueblo people to their traditional cultural and religious background may seem to have accomplished much, but reality must enter into the picture here. By the time that Pop, Tupat, and others began their quest for revitalization, the Spanish influence had already been incorporated as part of the Pueblo culture. This study will explore that attempted revitalization in New Mexico.
