A few years ago, online education using internet technologies was unthinkable. Now it is a reality and it has expanded beyond imagination. It is because of the internet, that the world is now witnessing a transformation in the way people learn. Sudan, like any other developing country needs to cope with this technological revolution for different educational aims with a view to making a bright future. Conducting online learning requires the availability of a number of aspects. These aspects include learners readiness, curricula suitability, technical infrastructure, technical support, financial readiness and teachers training. In view of these aspects, this study was undertaken to (i) investigate the extent to which the Sudanese universities are ready to conduct online learning, (ii) provide the factors influencing the implementation of successful online learning in the Sudanese universities, and (iii) use the findings of this study to outline some of the key elements that can form part of a strategy for conducting online learning in the Sudanese universities
