In this book the friendly monster is pictured in activities common to al children. The book asks "What is the monster doing today?" When you peek through the holes, you can see he's taking a bath, painting a picture, giving children a ride, etc. The book can be used for object identification and encouraging full sentences from children who can already label. Children who are beginning to read and write sentences can use the book as a self correcting tool. They can read it, then look to see if they were correct. They can also write the sentences then read to see if they got it correct.
