This study examined the relationship between resource materials provision and pass rates at Grade seven level in ten primary schools in Masvingo district. The random sample consisted of ten primary schools and involved all the teachers of the schools. For data collection both structured and unstructured questionnaires, interviews and observations were employed in order to improve on validity and reliability of the findings. The results of the study indicated that that there is a close relationship between resource materials provision and pass rates in primary schools. It was also established that the different categories of schools (Rural District Council, trustee, Former Group A/ Government and mission schools) have different resource bases which account for their different pass rates. The rural district council schools score the lowest pass rates compared to the other three categories of schools. The major recommendations were that the government and the rural district council schools responsible authorities should work together in an endeavour to construct adequate classrooms, provide stationery, provide text books and other vital resources.
