Product DescriptionHave you ever walked down the wrong road hoping to get to the right place?Scott Bauman is mere days away from either finding relief or ending it all. In a deadend job the odds are stacked against him. But Bauman isn t your average, everyday ordinary dude. He s special .Author of the bestselling Leaves Piled High, Douglas Robbins breathes life into the world of Scott Bauman. With fascinating characters and humorous depictions, Robbins weaves an engaging story that absorbs the reader with his sharp wit and insight. The Reluctant Human dives into what it means to truly live a meaningful existence.Review (Bauman)...is a latter day Holden Caulfield, but with real cajones. Walter Barnett A story for our time. Sad, funny, and inspiring. Stephen BorsakFrom the AuthorThere had always been a calling. When down and out, depressed and angry, I still heard that sacred voice calling from my dreams. I wrote The Reluctant Human as a protest against daily routines that grind us all up.I wanted to reach people who ve had similar experiences and who ve always wanted more. I felt that writing was the only way to say what I needed to say: that if we can change, the world can too.I don t want the main character, Scott, to suffer, as I don t want to suffer myself, but in The Reluctant Human he must suffer to reach a conclusion to throw it all down. Not to say we can eliminate suffering, but by going down the wrong roads we are guaranteed pain. This is the first in a series of three books. The Reluctant Human is about dark struggles we endure and the voice that calls up from the soul. The second book is The Emerging Human. It s about people reclaiming life and how we can affect others. The third is The Human Remains where people influence the world and impact the future in ways we have all envisioned yet perhaps never experienced.About the AuthorDouglas Robbins began his writing career in school after a teacher asked the class to write a poem. In that moment he found a power in words that he had never found anywhere else.Douglas grew up, attended college, and held numerous jobs from sales to construction to insurance. The jobs changed but his need to write remained a constant. According to Robbins, As time passed along I started writing more seriously because it was the only profession that ever made sense to me. It wasn t so much a career move, it was a move out of necessity. Robbins released his first full length novel, The Reluctant Human in June 2012. He quickly followed that up with the novella, Max Johnny, and a book of short stories, Leaves Piled HighRobbins is currently working on the sequels to The Reluctant Human as well as an upcoming novella entitled, Maine.Robbins lives in the Greater New York city area with his fianc. He enjoys riding his motorcycle Red as often as possible and practicing the martial arts.
