This helping professions book provides a broadbased understanding of the reasons for violent behavior and offers treatment strategies to help victims as well as perpetrators of violence. While most books on violence take a criminal justice approach and focus on the victims of violence, Glicken attempts to include the perpetrators of violence as well. The book covers many types of violence including school violence, random violence, workplace violence, domestic violence and violence among inmates. Also includes coverage of September 11th and the resulting economic downturn, which could lead to increased crime, domestic violence, and drug abuse. Criminal justice professionals, social workers, psychologists, etc.

I found the content really informative, especially the sections on treatment approaches. However, some parts felt a bit too technical and hard to digest. I think it’s great for professionals, but casual readers might struggle with the jargon.

Eye-Opening Perspectives
This book sheds light on the complexities of dealing with both victims and perpetrators of violence. The perspectives shared are quite profound. It took me a while to get through it all, but I'm glad I did. Definitely a worthwhile addition to my library!

Not What I Expected
I was disappointed with this book. It arrived a week late, and when I finally got it, I found the information wasn't very engaging. I was hoping for more actionable strategies, but it was more of an academic read.
