A major challenge in African Christianity is presenting Jesus and his work of salvation in a way that demonstrates his superiority over evil powers and his sufficiency to fill the vacuum created by abandoned traditional religions in African Christians. This study argues that to build confidence in Christ, in Africa, one must go beyond Africanoriented Christological motifs. The implications of the victory of the Cross over Satan and the ontological nature of Christian salvation must all be brought to bear on the African worldview. This analysis on the securing power of the African traditional religions, the person and work of Christ helps to shed light on how the Gospel can take root in the African Church, and it should be especially useful to all who are concerned to address the 'milelong but inchdeep' factor of Christianity in Africa.
