2013 Reprint of 1959 Edition. Exact facsimile of the original edition, not reproduced with Optical Recognition Software. This is the publication of the influential 1959 Rede Lecture by British scientist and novelist C. P. Snow. Its thesis was that the intellectual life of the whole of western society was split into the titular two cultures namely the sciences and the humanities and that this was a major hindrance to solving the worlds problems. Published in book form, Snows lecture was widely read and discussed on both sides of the Atlantic, leading him to write a 1963 followup, The Two Cultures: And a Second Look: An Expanded Version of The Two Cultures and the Scientific Revolution.

I appreciated the concepts presented in this book, especially how it tackles the scientific revolution. However, at times, the writing felt a bit dry and hard to get through. Still worth a read if you're into the subject matter.

Thought-provoking and well-researched
This book opened my eyes to the cultural tensions surrounding science. The author does a great job weaving historical context with literary analysis. It made me think about how we view knowledge today. Definitely a worthwhile addition to my library!

A fascinating read for history buffs
As someone who loves history, I found 'The Two Cultures and the Scientific Revolution' to be incredibly insightful. It dives deep into the dichotomy of science and humanities, and the writing style is engaging. Highly recommend it for anyone interested in how these fields intersect!

Not what I expected
I bought this book thinking it would be more about practical applications of the scientific revolution rather than a philosophical debate. It’s well-written, but the focus on cultural aspects wasn’t for me. Just a heads-up if you’re looking for something more straightforward.
