Product Description Lists past record holders in track and field, golf, soccer, tennis, baseball, football, skiing, auto racing, cycling, horse racing, mountaineering, weightlifting, boxing, and swimming From Library Journal Aside from a relatively inclusive section on track and field, this atlas suffers in several respects. First, air and land speed records are included but sports such as basketball and hockey are ignored completely. Other sports, like baseball and football, are given meager treatment (four pages each). Generally, the records are limited to results of championship series (e.g., World Series, Super Bowl) and selected individual feats (e.g., Pete Rose's 4191 milestone). Despite its lavish layout, this work adds little reference value to what already can be found in the Guinness Book of World Records or any general almanac. A comprehensive sports record book would be welcomed, but this is not it. Not recommended. William H. Hoffman, Ft. MyersLee Cty. P.L., Fla.Copyright 1986 Reed Business Information, Inc.
