He was discharged from the navy and decided to work as a sailor. One night in April, a ship hit an iceberg and began to sink.The second party of the story takes place afterwards. The main character saves the daughter of a former lover. The couple finds a lifeboat that has collided with the iceberg. The girl returns to her mother and Rowland is arrested for kidnapping her. Nevertheless, the judge releases him from prison. In the final chapter of the story, Rowland develops in a remarkable manner. Starting as a homeless fisherman, he ends up having an office job. Two years after passing an exam, he accepts a governmental job.
