English summary: This volume contains for lectures, which were presented in the setting of the symposium "Gottfried Wilhelm Leibniz: Philosopher, Mathematician, Physicist, Engineer," and associated with the exhibition in the auditorium of the Austrian Academy of Sciences (July 10th October 4th 2002.) Additionally the volume contains the results of a project on the subject of "Leibniz in Vienna," which was conducted by Lore Sexl for the Commission for the History of Natural Sciences, Mathematics and Medicine of the A.A.C. Sexl was able to show that the contacts of Leibniz to Vienna were essentially more substantial than previously recognized in the literature. During his stay in Vienna Leibniz frequently sought to convince the reigning emperor, Charles VI, of the necessity of establishing an academy of sciences in Vienna. Sexl describes and documents extensively his various efforts. The relevant drafts by Leibniz are published. In the appendix are found the notices for the events, which were designed by Sexl and which show the importance of Leibniz as a founder of the academy and as a universal scholar.
